Mr. Sikiru Adeniji Salami was born on 9th February, 1965 to the family of late Chief (Alhaji) Amusa Adebayo and late Mrs. Omolola Salami in Lagos Island area of Lagos State.
He attended various Institutions namely Oyo State College of Arts & Science, Ile-Ife, University of Lagos, Akoka-Yaba and Federal University of Technology, Akure wherein he acquired the Higher School Certificate (HSC), University of Cambridge Advance Level Certificate, Bachelor of Science degree in Finance (Banking) and Master of Business Administration (MBA).
He is also a qualified member of a number of professional bodies, among which are the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria.
He joined the service of the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission as Finance Officer II on Salary Grade Level 08 with effect from 1st August, 1987. His appointment was confirmed with effect from 1st August, 1989 and rose through the ranks to the post of Chief Accountant, Grade Level 14 in the Local Government Service until 2006 when he was deployed to the mainstream of the State Civil Service. He was severally appointed as Head, Main/Final Accounts; Area Treasurer; Head, Internal Audit and Council Treasurer in various Local Governments/Local Council Development Areas of Lagos State amongst which were Ikeja Local Government, Agege Local Government, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Coker/Aguda and Ifelodun Local Council Development Areas before his service was transferred to the mainstream of the Lagos State Civil Service with effect from 20th April, 2006. Upon his deployment, he was posted to the Lagos State Office of the Auditor-General for Local Governments, Oba Akinjobi Street, GRA-Ikeja. At the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Governments, he occupied various management positions at different times as Head of Intergovernmental Affairs; Salary Control; and Planning, Research and Development Directorates.
At the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Governments, he emerged at various times as the ‘‘Best Officer of the Quarter (Management Category)’’ and “Best Management Staff for Year 2011” and was duly awarded the Certificate of Meritorious Service, Shield and Prize to that effect. Among his notable achievements while at the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Governments were the following:-
(a) Initiation/Publication of maiden Edition of the “Lagos Local Governments Indicators (2006-2010)”-A publication of the financial and non-financial statistics of all the Local Governments/Local Council Development Areas of Lagos State.
(b) Initiation/Publication of the maiden edition of the “Work Plan and Audit Procedures, 2012” and also for Year 2013.
(c) He initiated and organized various professional trainings in areas of contemporary/emerging topics in the practice of accountancy and finance in conjunction with ICAN, CBN, DFID-GEMS3, Chapel Hill Advisory Services Limited, Lagos State Office of Public-Private Partnership et al for Local Governments/Local Council Development Areas’ Council Chairmen, Council Managers, Council Treasurers, Budget Officers, Internal Auditors and Accountants etc.
He has also attended many professional conferences and courses within the state and nationally.
In April, 2013, he was transferred to the Lagos State Office of the State Auditor-General, where he is currently the Head/Director of the Forensics Directorate.
He is happily married to Mrs. Adetokunbo Abidemi Salami and blessed with children.
