OFFICE OF STATE AUDITOR GENERAL TRAINS STAFF ON CONTEMPORARY AUDIT PRACTICE
Lagos State Office of the Auditor-General has organised a two-day training programme for Auditors on Grade Levels 8-14 with the theme: “Emerging Issues in Audit Practice: Facts, Evidence and Strategies”.
The State Auditor-General, Mr. Moshood Adewuyi, while declaring open the workshop held on Tuesday at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Central Business District, Alausa, advised the participants to be passionate about self-development, stressing that the training is designed to boost their knowledge and productivity in the delivery of statutory responsibility.
Adewuyi urged them to imbibe new knowledge that would be exposed to them, ask questions and interact with others, saying “The topics that would be treated are very relevant and germane to your career progression and must not be taken for granted. Hence, every session must be taken seriously to improve your knowledge”.
Adewuyi further enjoined them to shun all forms of distractions during training programmes, emphasising that their focus should always be on improving themselves by maximising the inherent intellectual benefits of such workshops.
“It is high time for our Auditors to be at par with their counterparts across the globe. Thus, it has become expedient for them to have a broad understanding of financial statements, business cycles and new developments in the profession”, the State Auditor-General stated.
He averred that at the end of the two-day training programme, participants are expected to have good knowledge of transaction flow, the quadrants of a financial statement, auditing in a digitalised world as well as audit etiquette to make a good impression while carrying out their assignments.
